The Rice CISD Board of Trustees took unanimous action at a special called board meeting on
April the 10 th and named Rice High School Principal Kenny Center as the Lone Finalist to replace
retiring Superintendent Bill Hefner. Mr. Center has over 20 years of experience in education
and joined the Rice CISD team in the summer of 2023 after working 13 years in Medina Valley
ISD. He also worked in Luling ISD, Lockhart ISD, and began his career in education at Premont
ISD. He and his wife Julie has been married for over 20 years and have two children Shelby, a
freshman at Texas Tech University and Easton a sophomore at Rice High School.
